DC Shoes x SE Racing PK Ripper
Bikes get you around, often more effectively than a skateboard, and more economically than a car. Time to get one.
From Hypebeast,
“DC Shoes is proud to introduce the PK Ripper Fixed Gear, the third installment in a series of limited edition bike projects from DC and SE Racing, all designed to embrace the heritage of the brand and the sport. A collector’s item, the PK Ripper Fixed Gear bike production will be limited to only 2,500 bikes worldwide. The Fixed Gear collaboration mixes a touch of 1970’s bike nostalgia with modern bike performance features. Inspirations for the PK Ripper Fixed Gear bike‘s design aesthetic stem directly from the original DC x SE Racing PK Ripper collaboration.
The new fixed gear bike design details are directly inspired from the classic PK Ripper BMX bike, complete with Floval tubing, Landing Gear fork and Looptail rear end. This blend of old school BMX and a modern fixed gear bike not only takes its cues from the PK Ripper BMX construction but also its colorways—Matte Black and Ball Burnished Silver.DC and SE Racing first joined together in 2007 for their exclusive limited edition project “30 Years of Radness.” The project honored 30-plus years of BMX history, and DC and SE Racing celebrated with a re-release of the PK Ripper bike in its original aesthetic for an exclusive limited edition quantity. In 2008, DC and SE Racing joined forces once again with the release of the DC x SE Racing 24” Quadangle. The Quadangle, or the Quad Looptail as it was known, was a 1980’s freestyle classic, and for the second collaboration DC and SE Racing re-released the BMX bike in for the first time ever, in a 24” version the same classic frame.
The DC PK Ripper Fixed Gear bike’s Matte Black and Ball Burnished Silver colorways will both be limited to only 1,250 each worldwide.”
I was told there are only 1000 of the bikes, but I’m quite certain only 7 made it to Canada, and we have one of each colour available for purchase. The silver/blue one actually has white straps, not brown, and they come with a brake and chain guard if you want to run either of those. Other wise, they’re pretty much as pictured.
We have a black 54cm and a silver 56cm. Get at me if you’re interested.
Here’s the BMX these are based on in case you weren’t into it back then,
Good Stuff
As always, there is so much radness in the store right now. Dudes, you need to tell your wives and girlfriends to get in here shopping for presents for you. There are lots of things that you might not treat yourself to, like books, buckles, and beer glasses, but friends, wives, and parents love giving that stuff for gifts.
Powell Peralta workshirts.
Skull Skates Skeletal Hoody
Loads of wallets
Spitfire jacket
Indy Jacket
Books, lots of rad ones.
We don’t actually have this one, but Value Village does.
Hopefully you aren’t still blowing it with no Brixton.
Nice basic Nixon watches.
Flogging Molly
Well……. Flogging Molly stopped in Halifax on Wednesday as part of their first Canadian Tour & it was worth one of my many 4.5 hour drives to see both my homies at Pro & a great show…..
The day started with me going down to the Palace early to pick up the tickets….. Turns out the tickets weren’t there yet but the band was getting prepared for sound check….. The boys spotted my Innes jacket and paid me a compliment then I got the invite in to give a listen & for a ‘meet and greet’.
They jammed out about 4 or 5 songs then afterwards I got to meet the guys and shoot the shit…. Meeting Matt Hensley was pretty awesome, a normal dude to say the least…. just like one of the b’ys I’d say. I showed him my ’stained glass’ tattoo, which I felt kinda weird about, but he was stoked on it for sure… Kinda fucked ya know, this dude having so much of an influence on mostly any old dudes skateboarding and style I’d say…. & he’s just a regular cool fucking guy.
Later on (still before the show) me & Zach hooked up for wings & beers….. We met some rad people who joined us and we entertained them with stories of everything from how fucking awesome we are at skateboarding to Zach ‘alleged’ making love to a swan at the Public Gardens…….
Anyway, on to the show…..
We walked in, Hensley came over to share a Guiness and a whiskey with us…. Zach hooked the man (and a couple of other guys in the band) with Proskates shirts…. they were stoked on it for sure. They returned the love with a scarf for Ooland (Z) & a couple of T’s for the baby (I)…
Both me & Zach never saw Flogging Molly live before so the show blew both of us away…. We were fueled with just the perfect amount of alcohol & good times throughout the nite……. We even made some guest appearances in the mosh pit for a few songs……
Come the end of show we got to shake hands with the man one last time and thank them for a rad time…
Me & Zach ended up down the old triangle for one last Guiness of the night then on to home time.
All said, couldn’t have asked for a better night.
Much love.
Cheese/David S. White.
(Greg ran into Hensley and another band member the following day, and Matt told Greg “that dude made my day!”, of course referring to Cheese. He modestly left that part out. I didn’t plan to attend the show. i was kinda whatever on it, 40 bucks for Flogging Molly seemed kinda steep. Now, kinda jealous. Man jealous.
Check out Hensley in Shackle Me Not. Of course it’s not ridiculous by todays standards, but this is the kind of stuff that did it for us when we were young.

Elwood at Uptown
Just wanted to let y’all know we got us some new shirts and jeans from Elwood. We haven’t had Elwood in the store for a while, but with a team like theirs and very nice jeans and shirts, we thought it was time. And speaking of time, for a limited amount of it, if you purchase jeans or a button shirt, you get a free tee!
Check this action, Drehobes getting blunty and trucky at that spot with the rails and the DIY qp and the concrete and the water and the manny pads.
Some of the gear we got in, come in and have a better look.
Remember, free tee with the purchase of jeans or flanny, while they last!
Halifax Pop Explosion
The HPX guide is out, and somehow they got a photo of what “appears” to be some sort of “band” playing in our “basement”. Or does every dirty basement have a wall of Marshalls and a singing horse? Apparently the “show” was quite well “received”.
“Weird”.
Be sure to check out as much of the HPX as you possibly can. Lots of good music and events going on. For more info pick up a guide or check the website,
