Smooth as butter… Urbanbutter.

Posted by progirl On March - 1 - 2010

For all of those who couldn’t make it this past weekend to our beautiful city’s downtown, you missed a great show! The 3rd annual Urbanbutter showcase took place down at the Waterfront Wearhouse.  Although the venue changed from last year, some the best riders in the east were there to show off their skills.

There was snowboarding and skiing going on all night, with a 30 foot screen showing Olympic events (us wining 3 Golds!!) with some great access to the bar/food inside. The music was playing and the vibe was great, despite the torrential rain the day before. There were 3 rails set up with the competition being in a rail jam style. Heats were set up so judges could catch every run and not miss anyone. There were a few terrible bails, with one of the first guys to hit the set up leaving in a stretcher (we hope you’re ok!) and definitely a few boards with some serious damage.

The night was a success, with people throwing some sick tricks, pushing each other and landing those last few to land themselves into the top spots.

And the results are for anyone who missed out:

Men’s Snowboarding: 1st Ben Horlings (walked away with $1000 and lots of great gear/product), 2nd Dustin Marshell (walked away with $500 and more swag) & 3rd Dave Graunn

Women’s Snowboarding: 1st Charlotte Butcher (walked away with $500 and tons of swag!), 2nd Anne Gillbert3rd Sarah Payzant

Men’s Skiing: 1st Collin Southerland (also walked away with $1000 bucks!), 2nd Charles Stevens & 3rd Chris Slaunwhite

There was a party afterwards at the waterfront Warehouse where all of us spectators went in to get warm and with the riders still in snowboard gear partying just as hard as everyone else. Tons of product was handed out through out the night. It was a mellow hang out with some great dance sessions by a few drunken participants! Love it. Get times had by all!

Almost all of the ProSkates/ProGirl family was out to play and it was great to see everyone.

A big thank you goes out to Dwayne at Urbanbutter for putting this on for the 3rd year, and all the other local shops/sponsors who where a part of it also. We’re all making snowboarding and skiing a bigger part of everyday life here on the east coast!  And of course to all the participants who threw down, it wouldn’t be possible with out you!

Here are some photos from the night! If you hae any feel free to send them to Sarah @ info-progirl@hotmail.com

See you on the hill.

xo Sarah
